Two
bits of third party goodness for you. First off, the latest
release of Multi Bot Launcher (v15) supports Judgement bots!
To get hold of a copy of this great bit of software (which will
configure and launch more mods and their bots than you can shake
a stick at) visit:
Secondly,
some kind soul named Teufel has been busy making GSpy Arcade
tabs, including one for Judgement which can be found here.
Remember this is for Arcade, not 3D.
Makes
me feel all warm and fuzzy knowing that people are still helping
the mod along, and you'll all be glad to know I've managed to
salvage our last 'pre data loss' build and I'm tinkering with
it again.
In
the first of a few "post death spasms", we bring you
one of our maps that was sat on the back benches.
Set
in the Cursed Earth, this map is best played with 2-4 players
at the most as it's deliberately not a very large map.
It's
also the only map that used the sun lens flare and the different
ladder sound effects, so it's worth getting just to see/hear
them in action. It's also one of the maps you'll have seen in
the trailer we released a while back.
You
may well notice it's not 100% polished, but since I've now lost
the uncompiled map file for it it's as finished as it's going
to get.
BACK
UP YOUR DAMN FILES BEFORE REINSTALLING AN O.S.
Yup,
you guessed right, all my files are gone. And since I was the
one that looked after pretty much all the development files,
that's not good.
I
was already looking at winding up development but had a few
things I was working on before I called it a day. Unfortunately
my reinstall has just called it a day for me really.
I
still have the latest code sat on our CVS server so that's recoverable,
but obviously all the new files that go with it are gone. I'll
probably try to sort a final release of the updated code at
some point in the future, but other than that it looks like
the end of development for this puppy.
Thought
I'd finally get round to mentioning our only (I think) fansite,
which is a small French affair just here.
I've
also slightly updated the FAQ page and I should hopefully get
my ass in gear soon and sort out our mapping site that's been
sat gathering dust on my harddrive.
As
you may have noticed, our forums have been down for a while.
They seem to be pretty much dead and gone, but we'll see if
we can sort some new ones (the old server is no more basically).
Until
we sort something new, the links to the forums have been 'deactivated'
as it were.

August
22nd - We really need a modeller or two - MoOg
Okay,
third time lucky they say. I've said this before but I can't
say it enough:
We
need character and weapons modellers.
Everyone
who's played the mod knows we need to add teamplay. We know
it and you know it. The problem there is, we need player models
for Perps. Then we need new weapons for them, again, more models
needed.
So
PLEASE, if you can model either weapons or player models and
are able to help, get in touch or this mod isn't really going
much further. Sure we can keep refining the code and tweaking
this and that, but that can only go on so long, so please get
in touch if you can help.
Just
to give you all a bit of warning, we'll hopefully be releasing
v1.1 sometime over the next few days. As you should be able
to tell from the version number,
it's not a huge leap forward, but is mainly tweaks and fixes.
The major addition you'll all be pleased with is the inclusion
of bots!
I'll
let you all know more once I get things sorted.
We're
still in serious need of modellers, especially character modellers.
If you can model well and are looking for a project then please
do get in touch as we need all the player models we can if we're
going to get teamplay out to you all any time soon.
Just
to let anyone looking for game know, there is currently a discussion
going on in our forums trying to organise a regular game slot.
So if, like many others, you can never find anyone on the server
to play against, head over to the forums and get talking.
Hopefully
this will result in a regular game time and will hopefully help
get people playing again. I'll keep you posted on here too.
Well
I've been secretly beavering away at this over the last few
weeks and it's finally ready. So here in all it's glory is our
first mod trailer movie! It features footage from the already
released version, as well as some of the new maps in development.
Enjoy....
I
thought I'd give you all a small update on some of the things
that are now done ready for the next release.
1.
Limb impact sounds - This means when you hit different parts
of a target you'll hear the material you hit. So you'll know
if you hit a judge in the helmet or shoulderpads due to the
metallic sound. It may sound like a minor touch, but it really
adds that extra feel to the damage.
2.
Fog - That's right, we've got fog. Although I'm not sure how
soon we'll have any maps to show it off.
3.
Five new maps - We currently have five new maps being worked
on, many utilizing some of the new mapping ents we're adding
for the next revision. Also you'll finally get to see that lens
flare in action.
Those
are just some of the things we've added so far. And before you
worry that we're still not adding teamplay, we are, it's just
not in yet.
We're
looking for a new full time weapons modeller to join the team
and help revamp all the weapons models as well as help make
a few more. We'd like someone who is already well skilled and
who will be able to put a real amount of time into the project.
It
seems the old installer is still lurking around out there. If
you're someone in charge of a site who has our installer mirrored,
PLEASE
download the one we host on this server to make sure you have
the latest one that hasn't expired.
The working one is 12.3Mb, NOT 13.6Mb like the old one.
I
know for a fact the FilePlanet one is still the old one and
have mailed them about it, I'll let you know when that's sorted.
Well
while we work away in the background on the new build, we're
also working at bringing you all a new official site dedicated
to helping Judgement mappers.
The
site will contain everything from entity guides to official
map guides and information, as well as providing a site to help
get your custom maps some publicity.
Hopefully
the new site will be up early next week, so watch this space.
This
was made for some of our in development maps, but I figured
we'd hand it out. The wad contains lots of metal plating style
textures that are damaged/corroded and generally in a bad state:
Our
local copy of the installer has now been replaced with a working
one. It's actually ended up being smaller now I've changed the
installer builder, which is a nice side effect :)
So
if you host a mirror of our win32 installer and your file is
the 13.6Mb version, you need to grab the new copy from here
which is 12.3Mb.
It
seems the shareware I used to package the installer had a secret
month timeout on the built package. So all the mirrors will
have links to useless installers. It might be fooled if you
turn back your clock, but obviously we're gonna get right on
and make a new working installer.
Sorry
for the trouble anyone who's trying to get it at the moment.
Well
I figured I should really post to let everyone know what's going
on, as a lot of people are worried the mod is gonna die. Don't
worry, it isn't.
After
a year of solid development I took a few weeks off and had a
good relax, and I feel much better for it. So now what are we
up to? Well myself and Snowdog are currently stabilising the
server code, as I'm sure you'll have noticed it isn't 100% stable.
We've squished plenty of bugs but still there are more to find,
so please don't think the regularly crashing servers aren't
being looked at.
We're
also working on getting the bot code finished as well as sorting
a simple teamplay gameplay mode for you all. Though obviously
the teamplay is going to involve new player models so that won't
be that soon.
Basically
we're listening to what people are saying and are working on
improving the key areas as soon as possible, so have no fear.
After
a not so pretty battle with my ftp client, I have returned!
It was really my fault...no details, it's to embarassing. Anyway,
I have a screen capture of an upcoming model to be used. Ro-Jaws,
by popular request ;) Soon to come....beta screens of some of
the new maps being released in the next open beta. See you all
on the servers!
Continuing
in the theme of '3rd party' support for us. The Admin
Mod team have just confirmed that their latest version does
indeed support Judgement thanks to the MetaMod
guys who I got in touch with a few weeks back. I'd heartily
recommend any server admins get a copy as it'll make your life
a lot easier.
Just
a quick bit of news. The guys at Gamers
Revolt have translated our manual into Italian. So if you're
Italian and would rather read the manual in your first language
then head on over here.
Well
I woke up too late to pull any silly April Fools gag, but never
mind.
Anyway,
today we give you some new files in the Files section. We've
added a Mapping Files section to it and you can find the current
FGD file there along with an extra wad of textures we made but
never used in our maps.
We've
also added a mapping board to our forums, so if you want to
ask or chat about mapping for Judgement, just pop in there and
you're sure to get a reply.
Well
this was quicker than I'd expected. In fact I hadn't even considered
anyone running a league to be honest. The guys over at Valve
Legion have already popped up a quick review of the mod
and have begun to sort out a 1 on 1 Judgement League. So pop
on over and register if you fancy asserting yourself as the
new embodiment of the Law ;)
Another
small bit of news is that we'll be sorting out some downloads
for anyone wanting to map for Judgement, hopefully by tomorrow.
I've also been reminded to let you all know that the FGD for
Judgement is actually already in your judgedm directory as we
included it in the installer. So watch this space if you fancy
making a few maps...
That
went really well last night. Thanks to everyone who turned up
to the IRC channel and then packed the servers afterwards. It
seemed to go down really well with 99% of the people I saw last,
tho I think the other 1% were looking for the Terrorist option
and the buy menu.
Unfortunately
(and there had to be something), there seems to be a problem
with a memory leak which causes the servers to die after a few
hours of play. We're going to be looking at this as a matter
of huge importance and we'll keep you all informed.
I've
also moved the list of game servers over to replace the progress
bars so that they're always easily visible for you. Plus we're
still adding mirrors to the Files page to keep that up to date.
Thanks
again to everyone who helped make last night go so well. It
was a great time for me and (I think) for all concerned.
Okay,
here it is guys. It's a bit early cos the files got leaked off
FilePlanet :(
This
is the list of download mirrors and the not so big list of servers
running it at the moment. If anyone starts running a server
please let us know and we'll add it to the list.
Official
UK Judgement Server: 194.81.90.60:27015
Judgement Server (US-West): 64.220.136.51:27015
BlackFlaggs Judgement Server v1.0: 24.104.69.124:27016
-= GR Judgement Server - v1.0 =- : 212.110.163.251:27017
It's
the big day! Wow, this feels great but scary at the same time.
It's been a strange few days doing nothing but sorting out file
mirrors and hopefully a few extra game servers. So if you've
been wondering why we don't just release it already, there's
your answer :)
But
I think everything is sorted and ready for a smooth release
tonight. So I'll see you all in #judgement in about 14 hours!

March
29th - Online Arena showcases Judgement Release!-sHINMA
Online-Arena
have featured us as their headline today as the release
approaches....TOMORROW! WOW! I can't believe it's finally ready
after all the work! =) I'd like to take this time to thank everyone
involved. From MoOg,
our project leader, to all of our beta testers! Great job guys
and gals! Looking forward to seeing you in #judgement for the
party! =)
Well
it's the news I hope you've all been waiting for. We're definitely
releasing it this week. To be precise, Friday at midnight BST.
So that's 6pm EST and (I think) 3pm PST.
There
will be the obligatory release party being held in our channel
#judgement on the Gamesnet Network. So I'll see you all in there
from about an hour before to start the festivities.
I've
been busier than ever just running through my current map for
Judgement and getting the word out, that I didn't post this
until almost 2 am my time. Updated the weapons page to show
the new screenshots, and included one of the disintegrator as
well. =)
An
entire day without a post! Oh whip me with a wet noodle! I've
got screen grabs of the new spit carbine, scatter gun, and medpack
models to keep you going until release! You'll find them on
the media page again! The clock is ticking.....=)
...but
the shots of all the maps to be in the initial release are up
on the media page! This is the first time ALL of them have ever
been shown at once, so go check 'em out!
Since
the old ones are very outdated, thought you might all want to
see what it looks like now! I'll be posting these later tonight
for all your drooling pleasure! =P
Well,
after a little debate, Release 1 will not include bots. There
is something planned for these computer AI avatars of gore that
will not be ready in time for the first release. I do stress
first release, however. The bots that will be
released will not be a chunk of meat to throw on a server, but
will have their very own believable place in the mod. This also
means that Release 1 will not be held up by us getting this
wonderful treat to you! =)
OH
HO! What's this?!? A new poster in your midst? Yes, I have taken
over the public relations department and made all the beautiful
women in it my love slaves! Seriously though, I'm here to announce
that MoOg will be handing over the area of PR to me, so expect
more postings as I hit the newsites for all they're worth! =)
No-one
will really know this, but we had our first ever game of what
was to become Judgement a year ago (well, a year ago yesterday).
Back then it was just a Lawgiver and a Judge model, ah nostalgia
is a wonderful thing. Well, it used to be in the old days :P
Some
of the guys over at the The
Backburner have been testing our little mod out along with
the beta testers and have put up a fully featured preview article
here.
It covers pretty much everything that'll be included in the
first release, so head over and read it now!
Well
the beta testers got hold of the mod last night and all seems
to be going well. No nasty bugs have reared their heads and
everyone says the mods great! So assuming nothing big turns
up, we should be on course for a release at the end of March.
The
lucky 40 have been picked from the hundreds we received applications
from and have been mailed to let them know.
It
was really tough to pick from all the applicants and I even
had to change my original amount from 30 to 40. So if you haven't
got a mail from me then don't take it personally, you'll get
to play it soon enough.
We've
stopped taking applications to beta test. We should hopefully
have the lucky few (about 30) picked by the end of this weekend,
so watch this space if you applied.
If
you still haven't got your application in to beta test then
you'd better hurry! We're closing to applications this friday
so if you want to apply use the
form here.
The
Forge have just stuck up a fairly light hearted interview
with me that Nebula did with me the other day. So head on over
and read what I thought on such key issues as Sly Stallones
acting and Nebs possible plot to overthrow the world with cloned
ferrets.
Just
thought I'd show you all our newly finished Stub Gun. This was
originally a Justice Department weapon, but it was recalled
due to a dangerous habit of overheating. Players can still find
these lying around but they'll have to be careful not to burn
themselves by overheating the gun!
This
is a plea for any experienced weapon modellers out there who
have the spare time to do me just one weapon model over the
next few weeks based from pictures.
I'm
not asking anyone to ditch their current mod or asking for a
fully fledged new member of the team. We're just lagging behind
a bit on the weapons models front and it's looking like the
only thing that's gonna hold back the beta testing.
So
all we need is someone who has the spare time to model a weapon
(or two if you feel like it) based on our already finished ideas.
I
hope there's someone out there who can give us a little helping
hand.
It's
great to see the amount of applications we're getting in! Keep
them coming, though remember we don't yet know exactly when
we'll begin beta testing, hopefully in about a month.
Sorry
we've been quiet for so long everyone but we've all been busy
working away behind the scenes and hopefully it won't
be too long till we've got something for you all.
In
the meantime, here are six screenshots of the first 100% complete
map that will be in Release 1, jm_reactor;
Okay,
well I'm off for christmas holidays today, so to tide you over
for the next few weeks, check out this great interview PC
Zone UK did with me here.
